For years, cashew nutshell liquid technology has a reputation for producing products that are dark in color or only usable for non-color sensitive applications. Over 5 years ago Admark Polycoats has decided to change this trend and developed light colored CNSL based hardeners, resins and diluents. This new generation technology was able to produce products having a wet stable color of 8-10 on the Gardner scale.

Cardanol distillation

Natural CNSL is dark in color and contains Cardanol with almost 16 monomeric and polymeric substances. In order to develop light colored CNSL based products, the quality of cardanol extracted from raw cashew nutshell liquid plays very important role. Admark Polycoats has thus setup its own cardanol distillation facilities, which is the key for controlling the quality and consistency of cardanol-based products. New proprietary distillation technology is at the core of the Ultra-Light series products, and enables the production of a much purer cardanol building block. Combining this with further research in product process technology, Admark Polycoats can develop new grades of epoxy diluents, resin modifiers, and curing agents with very good wet and dry color stability.

This technology has opened up a whole new door for cashew nutshell liquid technology, and Admark Polycoats continues to invest heavily researching and developing products that utilize it to bring the unique properties of cardanol to a variety of application areas.

Light Color Phenalkamines

Solvent free High Viscosity, reactive, Mannich- based light amine hardeners.
Ideal for Marine, Industrial and Protective Coatings.
Suitable for a fast cure at low temperature as well as at ambient temperature. Good adhesion to marginally prepared surfaces and excellent corrosion resistance.

Light Color Phenalkamines Adducts

Low Viscosity, modified reactive Phenalkamine hardener solution with improved blush resistance.
Ideal for marine and protective coatings e.g. tank coatings, structural steel, concrete.
Rapid cure at low temperature down to 0 °C (32 °F).
Good corrosion and chemical resistance and excellent blush resistance at low temperature and humid climate.

Color Stable Phenalkamines

High quality alternative to commodity polyamides.
Low temperature curing.
Color Stability, similar to Polyamide.
Blush free surface at extreme conditions.
Excellent Corrosion Protection.
Rapid cure and long pot life at ambient and low temperatures (5°C/40°F).
Compatible with most epoxy resins, solvents and their blends.
Based on Cardanol, a natural, renewable, non-food chain raw material feedstock
May be used in topcoats.
