For years, cashew nutshell liquid technology has a reputation for producing products that are dark in color or only usable for non-color sensitive applications. Over 5 years ago Admark Polycoats has decided to change this trend and developed light colored CNSL based hardeners, resins and diluents. This new generation technology was able to produce products having a wet stable color of 8-10 on the Gardner scale.
Natural CNSL is dark in color and contains Cardanol with almost 16 monomeric and polymeric substances. In order to develop light colored CNSL based products, the quality of cardanol extracted from raw cashew nutshell liquid plays very important role. Admark Polycoats has thus setup its own cardanol distillation facilities, which is the key for controlling the quality and consistency of cardanol-based products. New proprietary distillation technology is at the core of the Ultra-Light series products, and enables the production of a much purer cardanol building block. Combining this with further research in product process technology, Admark Polycoats can develop new grades of epoxy diluents, resin modifiers, and curing agents with very good wet and dry color stability.
This technology has opened up a whole new door for cashew nutshell liquid technology, and Admark Polycoats continues to invest heavily researching and developing products that utilize it to bring the unique properties of cardanol to a variety of application areas.
